The municipal company Promálaga together with the Andalusian regional government and Telefonica signed a collaboration agreement in September 2015 to promote innovative entrepreneurship in Malaga through Telefonica's Open Future program, called "La Farola". The objective is to become a participatory, collaborative, innovative center of knowledge where the development of projects or the scaleup of startups takes place.
The Open Future program, demonstrating the interest that both Public Institutions and private companies have to develop technologies related to Smart Cities, Big Data and the Internet of Things, contemplates the development of entrepreneurial projects from the early stages in spaces called Crowdworking. In these spaces of collaborative works entrepreneurs who have an idea or project with global impact and innovative base are brought together.
The Crowdworking space in Malaga is located in building 5 of the Tabacalera municipal complex. This space, which occupies 800 square meters, has capacity for 60 crowdworkers. The entrepreneurs selected to develop their projects within these facilities work with experts in startup and acceleration programs, who advise and help those selected in the implementation of innovation techniques.
Telefonica Open Future connects entrepreneurs to scaleup programs for their projects, exclusive financing, the possibility of participating in local and international events, training and the possibility of sharing experiences with other entrepreneurs taking advantage of global collaborative environments.
In these hubs, the entrepreneurs that have been selected in each challenge receive the necessary training and mentoring to grow their digital business with the help of experts from the Telefonica Open Future ecosystem (Wayra, Talentum, Think Big, Amerigo, Telefonica Ventures, among others).
