The current Secretary of State for the Information Society and the Digital Agenda supports the creation of technology hubs in which agents that generate sustainable ecosystems participate: universities, incubators / accelerators, entrepreneurial projects, consolidated companies, innovation centers, investors, etc.
The first project was the Spanish National Digital Content Hub of Malaga as described in the ICT Plan for SMEs and Electronic Commerce of the Digital Agenda for Spain. It is the largest Digital Content center for excellence in Spain and was made possible thanks to the support from Red.es, the Malaga City Council, and FEDER funds.
The Digital Content Hub is being managed by Promalaga and is located in the municipal complex of Tabacalera, which has more than 20,000 square meters of use, of which 5,880 have been allocated to the installation of the project. It is a space equipped with the latest technology in which activities are carried out to promote entrepreneurship, its growth and consolidation, as well as for the internationalization of digital content companies. In short, it is a national benchmark for creativity, the virtual worldand the digital industry.
The activities and use of its facilities are aimed especially at video game creators, designers, photographers, architects, technological entrepreneurs, audiovisual journalists and students. The building has two floors and is divided into different rooms and laboratories equipped with the latest technologies in 3D animation, computing and graphic design, which contribute to providing mentoring, internationalization and capital acceleration services.
In its facilities, actions are carried out related to the development of content for the common good, the improvement of living conditions, accessibility and digital participation. The Digital Content Hub has also been conceived for the development of data analysis processes and the promotion of talent, entrepreneurship, growth, consolidation and internationalization of the Digital Economy in Malaga.
On the ground floor of the building there is a "freaky" area in which the Malaga Jam videogame association, the organization of the Gamepolis videogame festival and the first VR experimentation Arcade room in Spain are installed. There is also a space dedicated to the attention of startups with a business consulting information. There are rooms dedicated to European projects and to the acceleration of entrepreneurs, as well as a space for private companies in the sector.
The EOI (School of Industrial Organization), Malaga Byte, the Andalusian Technological Park and the University of Malaga also have spaces in the Hub for different training activities.
