Eco-aula arises as a result of the Ecocity Project, promoted by the City of Malaga and co-financed by FEDER funds through the Spain-External Borders Cooperation Program (Poctefex), whose objective has been to create a common "eco-city" culture that allows the interaction of key actors in the improvement and protection of natural spaces and environmental resources.
It is a new facility located in the Environmental Center "Los Ruices" and conditioned as an Environmental Classroom. It is a model of sustainable architecture, where a reused maritime container, bio-construction materials, recycled wood with reduced environmental footprint and natural origin, as well as resistant cardboard material have been used. It also has a renewable energy production systems (wind and photovoltaic systems), so that it becomes self-sufficient. It carries out environmental education activities and demonstrations of energy efficiency in real time.
